GOOD JOB!

You went out, you voted, and your vote counted! Amazing! With all the talk of "ex-con hacker" Diebold management and miscounting machines, I was beginning to wonder if the whole system hadn't been rigged. Clearly, though, it's too big and complex to be brought under the control of any definable entity. Thank goodness!

Photo of Glacier National Park Better days are ahead, folks, we have surmounted the rise and ahead lies a more verdant valley with promise of a fresh new start based on truth, respect for one another, and commitment to healthy practice. Like all efforts that came before, this too will pass, but this new one is just beginning, and while it lasts we have the opportunity to chart progress in the direction dictated by our best collective wisdom. May we think audaciously while acting with the greatest care for all things living. May we heed the lessons of the past, so that we find true solutions, rather than repeat past mistakes.

Our fragile future And so I draw to a close this brief congratulation to you, American Citizen, for your encouragement of and participation in this shift of direction which has overtaken our society. Once again, in fulfillment of teachings by those who came before us, the politics of lies and fear have been defeated by the indefagitable truth, around which our mechanisms of governance were designed and against which, despite the most cynical machinations, they have so far withstood the test of time. Let us take this opportunity to further refine these mechanisms so that future challenges will prove at least as fleeting.

Best,
Nancy

Throw the bums out!

If we weren't headed for hell 6 years ago, we certainly are now. Some Democrats may be inept, but too many Republicans are evil, two-faced, perverted, cynical liars wearing ridiculously thin veils of piety. We need to put the Democrats in control of the House AND Senate, then insist they impeach the bastards. It's the only way we can restore some measure of power to the people over the rich and powerful who would otherwise dictate too much of our lives.

So exercise your right to assert your own power and get thee to the polls. Vote!

And if you live in one of the infamous swing states and find yourself confronted with an electronic voting machine, rest assured that there's a good chance that your vote won't be counted. Learn more about it in Hacking Democracy, a powerful new documentary exposing outright fraud being perpetrated via these machines.

In the meantime, GenderTalk.com is now safe and warm in its new home, and there should be no more outages of access. I'm working with the new software, first on an improved mailing list, then... well, let me surprise you, OK? I'm full of ideas, so we'll see what I can manage to make happen.

So enjoy voting, and wish us luck here in Massachusetts, where the legislature will decide on Thursday whether to allow a popular vote on same-sex marriage. As if anyone's rights should be put to a popular vote!

Best,
Nancy
