Originally published in the 70s, "Our Bodies Ourselves" was the first publication in which women challenged the inadequate care of their bodies by the medical profession. More than self-help, it addresses political, social and economic issues that affect womens health care. Heather Stephenson, managing editor of the 2005 edition of "Our Bodies Ourselves", and Elizabeth Lindsey, author of a chapter on gender identity, talk about the creation and content of this vital and popular resource for women.

Question of the Week
"I know a mentally retarded pre-transition MTF from work, and I'm pretty worried about him (still goes by he). He shocks the rest of us queers, even the more stubborn ones, by being so totally, totally out. People ridicule him to his face, and he doesn't even register it. We work for a company that employs lots of handicapped folks of all types, but the sensitivity of leadership here has plenty of gaps. I wonder if he's going to make it in this environment post-transition."
