"Crossing Boundaries", a documentary about transgenderism by Gloria Carol in association with KUNM in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Please note that in this early version of the documentary, the Human Rights Campaign is mistakenly referred to as the Human Rights Commission." Also, we disagree with the following definitions provided:
-
the definition of "Transgender" as an "alternative to transsexual" implies that transgender means the same thing as transsexual, which is simply untrue. "Transgenderist" was first coined by Virginia Prince to describe a person who changes their gender (and cross-lives) without changing their sex (ie no surgery). Later "transgender" was introduced as an overarching term, with transsexual (and transgenderist) a subset category.
-
"MTF" does not imply any amount of "living as women". It includes recreational crossdressing with our without complete role reversal.
-
"FTM" as "starting out as females and become men" is wrong for many FTMs who will tell you they were never female. Also, FTM does not imply transsexual, as is implied in this piece.
