Esther Morris, activist and writer, joins us to talk about MRKH.org, a resource she founded for women with Mayer Rokitansky Kuster Hauser Syndrome (also known as Mullerian Agenesis, Vaginal Agenesis, Congenital Absence of Vagina).
Esther tells us about the pain and embarassment that she suffered in her teens when she was mis-diagnosed repeatedly and suffered repeated surgeries to "correct" her "problem." Sadly, the doctors never included consultation with her as to their intended treatment, and so never discovered the truth Esther shares with us, that rendered their treatment unnecessary. Esther also tells us about how the award-winning play "The Vagina Monologues," while breaking new ground for all women, makes a terrible mistake in mis-representing the concerns of those born with MRKH Syndrome. For more information, write to: mrkh.org, inc., P.O Box 1494, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130 Or email: info@mrkh.org Or visit MRKH.org |
