Question of the Week
"I am a male-to-female transsexual and on hormones, but not yet living full-time. My problem is that I do not pass well and am horrified when I hear statements that characterize me as a 'man in a dress' or worse. I wouldn't even mind so much if they were as nasty but characterized me as a woman. My gender therapists have insisted that I need to worry less about passing, but it makes a difference in so many ways. I have considered FFS (facial-feminization therapy) as the way to go before I transition fully. However, it is hugely expensive unless I bundle it in with SRS in Thailand. What help is there for me and many other TSs who suffer the indignity of looking too much like their assigned birth gender and not like who they know they are inside?"

Pauline Park, chair of the New York Association for Gender Rights Advocacy, explains what's at stake and what's being done to avert this potential tragedy. She also reveals Hillary Clinton's sorry relationship with the transgender community.
