52:19 Audio Clip: Calamity Janie and Toanie Stubbs in "Deadwood"

Featuring Calamity Jane, a foul-mouth, drunken sot with a heart of gold, speaking with the beautiful Joanie Stubbs, who is returning from a visit to the Bella Union brothel, where she mothers the girls as best she is able. Jane is looking in on Joanie to do what she can to protect her. Joanie has been threatened by a preacher who has already stabbed one of the powerful saloon owners for daring to challenge his ministrations towards the girls Joanie looks after.

First, we hear the front door slam, as Joanie enters the rustic room where Jane sprawls on the floor against a wall. Calamity, who has wet herself in her drunkenness, hastily rises. She has recently been asked by the schoolteacher, Mrs. Bullock, to tell the tale of her scouting experiences in the employ of General George Armstrong Custer.
