12:58 Question of the Week

"Nancy, How do you personally deal with concepts like those expounded by Lynn Conway that non-ops aren't ever going to understand what being a woman is like, since they don't have a vagina? As a passing full-time non-op which I assume you are, how do you deal with this. Post-op groups keeping out non-ops makes as much sense as the exclusionary practices at the Michigan Womyn's festival. I know non-ops whose lives as women are more successful than many who have had SRS."

32:34 One of the pioneers of openly transgender living without sex reassignment surgery, Holly Boswell has influenced a generation of transfolk through her writings and living example of an alternative, more consciously spiritual path for cross-gender fulfillment. She updates us on her experience with discontinuing female hormones, and on the latest spiritual experiences she and other transfolk are experiencing in the Smokey Mountains.

Writes Holly:
"We are all longing to go home to some place we have never been--a place, half-remembered, and half-envisioned we can only catch glimpses of from time to time. Community. Somewhere, there are people to whom we can speak with passion without having the words catch in our throats. Somewhere a circle of hands will open to receive us, eyes will light up as we enter, voices will celebrate with us whenever we come into our own power. Community means strength that joins our strength to do the work that needs to be done. Arms to hold us when we falter. A circle of healing. A circle of friends. Someplace where we can be free. "
